Terms of Service
These are the terms you agree to by using Wisata Hits. Most of it is what you would guess: the site is free to read, the work on it is ours, and there are things you cannot do with it. The parts worth reading are about machines taking the archive wholesale, and about sending us something.

Who this applies to
By opening a page here, subscribing to the newsletter or posting a comment, you accept these terms. If you do not, the remedy is to close the tab. Nothing asks you to sign anything and there is no subscription to escape from.
You should be at least 13 to use the site, or 16 where local law sets the age there, and under the age of majority a parent or guardian accepts these terms for you. If you are here for a company, you are confirming you can bind it, which matters for the licensing rules below.
What you can do with what we publish
Read it, print a copy for yourself, and send the link to anyone you like. Linking is always fine and never needs permission. Quoting is fine too, within reason, which we read as a paragraph or two with our name on it and a live link back.
That is a personal, non-commercial licence to read, not a transfer of anything. The rest stays with us: the text, our photographs and graphics, the translations, the data we compile out of ministry documents, and the archive as a collection. Third-party material appears under licence from its owner, so we cannot pass that on, and our copyright policy covers reuse beyond a quote.
What you cannot do
Republishing a whole article elsewhere is not allowed, and neither is running it through a translation tool and posting the result as your own content. That happens regularly, which is why this section exists. Nor can you frame our pages inside your own, strip our bylines, or edit a piece and leave our name on the altered version, which is the one that does real damage.
Bulk automated collection is out: crawling at a rate that costs us server capacity, hitting our feeds to rebuild the archive elsewhere, or scraping to assemble a dataset. Do not pass yourself off as us, register lookalike domains, or use our name to imply we endorse a product. If you need something this licence does not cover, ask.
Machine reading and AI training
You may not use this site to train, fine-tune, evaluate or ground a machine learning model, including a language model or an image model, and you may not gather our work into a dataset that lets somebody else do it. We expressly reserve our rights under every text and data mining reservation available to us, and our machine-readable directives, in robots.txt and in page metadata, are conditions of these terms rather than polite suggestions.
We are not against machines. Search crawlers that send readers back to us are welcome, and so is a research archive keeping a copy of the record. The objection is narrower. This archive exists because reporters paid for their own ferry tickets, sat through briefings that started two hours late, read the original Indonesian instead of an English summary, and once got a regency wrong badly enough that we still write about it. A crawler takes all of it in an afternoon, and the model built on it answers a reader’s question about the fuel subsidy without the reader ever arriving here, which is the traffic that pays for the next reporter. Nobody asked and nobody paid. If you want a licence, training included, write to support@wisatahits.blog with LICENSING in the subject line. The answer is not automatically no. It is just not free.
Comments, tips and anything else you send us
Where comments are open, keep them to the story. We remove abuse, threats, ethnic and religious incitement, doxxing, spam, gambling and lending-app promotion, and anything that is somebody else’s copyright. We can moderate, edit for length, close a thread or ban an account, and a comment left standing is not our endorsement of it.
When you post a comment or send material for publication, you keep your copyright and give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish it, edit it for length and clarity, and keep it in the archive. You confirm it is yours to give. Tips are welcome, but sending one creates no obligation for us to publish, pay or reply, and ordinary email is not a secure channel.
Links, embeds and other people’s content
We link out constantly, to ministry statements, court filings, agency data and reporting by other outlets we credit by name. A link is a citation. It does not mean we vouch for the site at the other end, or for what it publishes tomorrow.
Some pages carry video, social posts, maps or documents hosted elsewhere, loading from another company’s servers under its rules, and they may set their own cookies, as our privacy policy explains. Advertising works the same way, since unsold inventory is filled by exchanges, so an ad beside a story is not a recommendation from the newsroom.
What we do not promise, and what we will not pay for
The site is provided as it is. We work hard at accuracy and correct what we get wrong, but we do not warrant that everything here is complete, current or fit for a particular purpose, or that the site will always be up. Nothing we publish is professional advice, and our disclaimer goes through that properly.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost data, or a decision you take because of something you read here, and our total liability for any claim about your use of the site is limited to what you paid for access, which is nothing. Where you break these terms and it costs us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs. None of this limits rights your consumer law protects.
When we cut off access
We can block an address, remove a comment, delete an account or restrict access where these terms are being broken, which in practice means scrapers hammering the site and accounts posting spam. For anything short of that we would rather write to you first, since most breaches are somebody who never read this page.
Suspension does not wipe out what either side already owes, and the licence you gave us for a published comment stays with it. If you think we blocked you wrongly, write in and a person will look at it.
Which law applies, and how a disagreement gets settled
These terms are governed by the law applicable at the publisher’s place of business, and a dispute goes to the courts with jurisdiction there, without prejudice to consumer protections you have at home. We publish from Southeast Asia and are read internationally, so this clause answers the question rather than shopping for a friendly forum.
Before anyone involves a lawyer, write to us. Nearly every threatening letter we have received would have been settled faster by an email explaining the problem, and a factual complaint belongs in our corrections policy.
Changes to this page
We update these terms when the law changes or something new appears on the site, and the date at the top says when that last happened. Using the site after a change means you accept the current version.
Where a change affects what you may do with our work, or your rights over a comment you left, we flag it on the page instead of swapping the text out silently. That is the rule we apply to editing a published story, and it would be strange to keep it there and not here.
