News, not advice
Nothing we publish is financial, legal, medical or tax advice, and none of it is written with your circumstances in mind. A piece explaining a rupiah move, a coal price or a listed company’s quarterly numbers reports what happened, it does not suggest what you should buy. A piece on a new lending regulation tells you what the rule says, not what it means for your contract. A health story reports what a ministry or a researcher said, and your doctor still knows things about you that we do not.
Hazard coverage deserves its own line, because we live on a subduction zone and our readers know it. When we report an eruption, a quake, a flood or a tsunami advisory, we name the agency that issued the statement and the time it was issued, and the instruction that binds you is theirs. Follow the meteorology and geophysics agency and your local disaster agency, and follow them over us if the two ever differ, because they have the instruments and the legal authority and we are relaying what they published.
Accurate when we published it
Stories are true to what we could establish at the time. They do not stay current by themselves. Fuel prices move, a subsidy allocation gets revised in a budget amendment, an exchange rate in a paragraph is that morning’s rate, a casualty figure is corrected upward for days, and the timetable for the overnight ferry to Flores changes without anyone announcing it. Read the date on a piece before relying on it.
We make no promise that a story is complete, that it suits whatever you need it for, or that a link inside it still resolves years later. What we do promise is that we will not quietly rewrite an old piece to look prescient. Where a story moves we add an update note, and where we got a fact wrong we correct it and say so, and our corrections policy sets out the difference between the two.
Reporting, analysis and opinion
Reporting carries no view of ours. Analysis is written by someone who covers the subject, is labelled analysis, and may reach a conclusion from evidence laid out in front of you. Opinion is labelled opinion and argues a position the writer holds, and it belongs to that writer rather than to the newsroom.
Where a piece is labelled analysis or opinion, treat its judgements as one informed reading rather than settled fact, including the forecasts, which are guesses with reasoning attached. Our editorial standards explain how those labels are applied, and if you cannot tell which kind of piece you are reading, that is our failure and worth an email.
Links, embeds and other people’s material
We link out to ministry statements, court filings, agency datasets and reporting by other outlets, because a reader should be able to check us against the source. A link is a citation and not an endorsement. We do not control those sites, cannot vouch for what they publish next, and a page we cited in good faith may later say something we would never have linked to.
Quotes, photographs, video and embedded documents from third parties are used under licence, under a permission granted to us, or under fair use and fair dealing with the source credited. Embedded content loads from another company’s servers and can vanish without warning. If you own something that appears here and think our credit or our permission is wrong, our copyright policy tells you how to reach us, and we would rather fix it by email than receive a letter.
Advertising and affiliate links
Ads on this site are ads. Placements we sold directly and inventory filled by the programmatic exchanges both sit in marked slots, and neither is chosen by the newsroom story by story, which is the point of the wall between the desk and the money. Sponsored articles carry a label at the top of the page and name the sponsor, and no advertiser gets a preview or a veto over reporting.
A few travel links earn us a small commission if you book through them, disclosed where they appear, and they never change the price you pay. Neither a paid placement nor an affiliate link is a recommendation from the desk. Errors, and what we are not liable for
If you spot a mistake, tell us. Send the link, quote the sentence and say what it should say, to support@wisatahits.blog with CORRECTION at the front of the subject line, and it reaches editors who read that inbox themselves. You do not need to be the subject of a story to report an error in it, and pointing us at the original Indonesian document rather than a summary gets the fix made faster.
To the extent the law allows, we accept no liability for loss arising from a decision you take because of something you read here, including money moved, a trip booked, a contract signed or treatment delayed.
