Bravo Cuts Nathan Gallagher but Still Airs Below Deck
Bravo ended future work with Nathan Gallagher after his Sydney conviction, then left the bosun in Below Deck Mediterranean Season 11, still listed on Mondays.
Bravo said it will not work with Nathan Gallagher again, then left the Below Deck Mediterranean bosun in Season 11, which is still on Monday nights. A spokesperson put the split in one sentence on Sept. 3, 2026: the network “does not plan on working with Nathan in the future.”
The current season premiered June 8 and was shot in 2025, before his Boxing Day arrest in Sydney. Producers are not cutting him out of the remaining episodes. Deckhand Joe Bradley, who spends this season fighting him on camera, marked the news by liking an Instagram post about the split.
The Network Ban Starts After This Season
Gallagher, 28, has been the bosun across three seasons of the Mediterranean series, from his Season 9 debut in 2024 through the run now on air. He is Irish, from Burtonport in County Donegal, and he met deckhand Gael Cameron on that first season. Their son, Kayden, was born in June 2025. Bravo built Season 11 around him learning that job while the baby and Cameron stayed nearby in Croatia.
The future-tense line arrived after a Sydney magistrate convicted him in his absence and New South Wales Police posted that he was wanted. People close to the franchise said the network had stayed quiet after mid-August reports of the arrest and had told people tied to the show not to talk. 51 Minds Entertainment, which makes the series, did not comment on whether it opened any internal review.
What Bravo did not do is pull the episodes already queued. The Sept. 3 sentence closes the door on another season. It does not touch the fatherhood plot, or the Joe fight, still going out under the Bravo bug.
THE SEASON STILL IN THE GRID
| Move | Date | What it does with Gallagher |
|---|---|---|
| Network statement | Sept. 3, 2026 | No plans to work with him in the future |
| Season 11 premiere | June 8, 2026 | He is bosun; fatherhood is a main plot |
| Episode 13, Deck Daddy’s Home | Aug. 31, 2026 | Listing says Joe spirals over Nathan’s return |
| Episode 14, Getting Ciggy With It | Sept. 7, 2026 | Listing says Joe confronts Nathan |
That is the whole split: a ban that starts after the can is empty, and a Monday night that still needs him as Deck Daddy.
Joe Bradley Liked the News, Then Went Quiet
Bradley is in the same Season 11 deck team. On the show he and Gallagher were already in a slow collapse, including a fight over how Bradley had treated Cameron. A June clip had Gallagher telling him he had “no moral grounds.” The silent Instagram like is the only public move from a current Med castmate after Bravo’s line went out.
It is a small gesture because the larger one was taken off the table. If affiliates were told not to talk, a like is about the only signal that does not break the instruction. Bradley did not issue a statement. He did not have to. The episodes still do the talking for both of them.
Former original-series deckhand Ben Willoughby, who never worked with Gallagher, did speak, and he aimed at casting rather than at one like. That argument sits later. On the current boat, the public record from Joe is a thumb on a post.
What the Burwood Court Found on Sept. 1
Police arrested Gallagher at a unit block on Appleforth Street in Melrose Park, in Sydney’s north-west, at about 8:45 a.m. on Dec. 27, 2025. They said the alleged assault on a 29-year-old woman he knew had happened the day before, Boxing Day, at the same address. He was taken to Gladesville Police Station and charged with three counts.
THE CHARGES ON THE FILE
- Actual bodily harm: Assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
- Choking: Intentionally choking a person without consent.
- Common assault: A third count of common assault.
Police said neither person reported serious injuries. Court material later identified the woman as Cameron, then 29, his co-star and former partner. An apprehended violence application was filed for her protection. Gallagher pleaded not guilty and was released on conditional bail after the December arrest. Those conditions, Australian reporting on the file said, did not make him surrender a passport or report to police, even though yacht work is his job.
The Boxing Day File
Court documents described a fight in the home in which Gallagher held Cameron down and put both hands around her neck with enough pressure that she could not breathe. A document submitted at the hearing said he used one hand to cover her mouth and nose. One account of the file said he cornered her in the bathroom. Reports of the same papers said the dispute unfolded near their young son. Gallagher later denied choking her or covering her mouth.
Cameron attended the September hearing to give evidence, with friends. He did not.
The Hearing He Missed
Burwood Local Court had the case on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026. Prosecutors told Judge Janine Lacy they believed the defendant was offshore and asked her to deal with the file without him. She said immigration compliance records showed he was overseas, and she was satisfied he knew he had to be there.
The offences themselves are very serious, with significant maximum penalties, in the context of them being domestic violence committed within the home.

She recorded a conviction on all three counts and issued a warrant. He has not been sentenced. A two-year apprehended violence order for Cameron was finalized around the same hearing, according to Irish court copy of the result.
Gallagher had spoken on Aug. 26, a week before he failed to appear. He sent a long statement that admitted fault in one breath and contested the public account in the next.
I’m not claiming I was perfect. I wasn’t. I made mistakes and I will take responsibility for my own actions. But I will not accept being portrayed solely through one person’s account of a relationship when there is another side and evidence relating to it.
Nathan Gallagher, written statement, Aug. 26, 2026
He said he had “contemporaneous video footage from the night in question, as well as messages and other records,” and that he was willing to provide the footage. He also pointed to the breakdown of the relationship, older allegations he said Cameron had made about a former partner, and money around a Sydney apartment. He said he would not dump private papers on Instagram. He named his son as his biggest concern and said his priority was being recognised as Kayden’s father and finding a way to co-parent. He did not put that footage out before the hearing, and the judge convicted him with an empty dock.
THE BURWOOD CALENDAR
- Dec. 26, 2025: Police allege the assault at the Melrose Park unit.
- Dec. 27, 2025: Arrest at about 8:45 a.m.; charges laid at Gladesville.
- Sept. 1, 2026: Conviction in absence on all three counts; arrest warrant issued.
If you or someone you know is dealing with domestic violence in the United States, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-SAFE (7233), or text START to 88788. In New South Wales, police asked the public to call Triple Zero (000) and not to approach him.
Monday’s Grid Still Lists Him as Bosun
Bravo’s own listings make the contradiction plain. Episode 13, “Deck Daddy’s Home,” aired Aug. 31 with a synopsis that has Joe spiraling because Nathan is back. The Sept. 7 slot is Episode 14, “Getting Ciggy With It,” a network premiere whose log line has a new deckhand coming aboard and Joe to confront Nathan that night.
The season opened with the family on a flight from Sydney to Dubrovnik, where Captain Sandy Yawn was taking the yacht Akira One out for another charter summer. Bravo’s own first-look scenes with their son Kayden had Gallagher talking about “f-king pressure,” saying he adored the baby and knew it would be hard to leave them on the dock. Episode 2 put the infant in the bridge in an Akira One onesie so Yawn could hold him. In July, a later episode had Gallagher in tears to a producer because a cold kept him on board on an off night, away from Cameron and the baby. “She’s my best friend. So, to not be able to be there hurts,” he said on camera.
Those scenes were shot while the couple were still presenting as a family. They are no longer together. The edit does not know that, or does not care, because the tape is already cut. Cameron is in that footage too, which means Bravo is still running the alleged victim as a guest in the same fatherhood plot as the man a Sydney court has now convicted. By Sept. 7 she had started to talk about how she is coping and had described the stretch as tough, with their son as the thing carrying her through.
Viewers who wanted the rest of the season recut did not get that option. The network’s answer was the future ban. The product on the night remains a bosun nicknamed Deck Daddy, a deckhand boiling over, and a baby used as warmth.
Two Warrants and No Passport Hold
After the Burwood result, New South Wales Police put Gallagher’s mugshot out and asked for sightings. The force believed him to be offshore. It described him as Caucasian, fair, about 165 cm tall, medium build, known around Ermington and Melrose Park. Anyone with information was told not to approach him and to call Triple Zero (000) at once, or Ryde Police Station, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Australia is not the only file. A bench warrant was issued in Ireland in April 2025 after he failed to appear at Dungloe District Court. That case traces to an alleged assault on another man in Dungloe in August 2022. The Sydney judge was told he had no prior criminal history on the Australian charges; the Irish warrant is a separate vanishing act on a second island.
WHAT WE KNOW
- The conviction: Lacy found all three domestic violence counts proven on Sept. 1 and issued an Australian arrest warrant.
- The Bravo line: The network will not work with him in the future and is not pulling Season 11.
- The police description: He is 28, about 165 cm, and believed to be offshore.
WHAT IS UNCONFIRMED
- Where he is: Immigration records put him overseas on the hearing day; no public fix since.
- What Bravo knew and when: The network has not said when it first learned of the December arrest or the Irish warrant, including whether that was before the June 8 premiere.
- A sentence: He has been convicted and not sentenced, because he was not there.
The bail design is the practical reason a yacht bosun could leave. If the court does not take the passport and does not make him report, the job itself is a way out of the jurisdiction. Police only confirmed he was gone when he failed to walk into Burwood.
Ben Willoughby Says the Casting Already Failed
Willoughby, who appeared on Seasons 10 and 11 of the original Below Deck, recorded a string of videos after the warrant. He said the Gallagher case was the third franchise shock that had soured him on the show, after the Gary King civil claims on Below Deck Sailing Yacht and a Below Deck Down Under incident in which production stepped in on camera. He argued the casting team knows who it is hiring.
This has got to change. Casting knows exactly who they’re hiring. Everyone goes through a psych exam. And I’m struggling to understand why the network puts these characters in the spotlight.
Ben Willoughby, Instagram, September 2026
He called Gallagher “a trainwreck” and said “something in the Below Deck casting world needs to change,” because “we’re just going down the wrong path with these kind of guys.” He also drew a line between messy boat relationships and conduct that ends in criminal court, and he said he would not pretend to know the Sydney file first-hand. Former stew Hayley De Sola Pinto added her own disappointment about recent casting.
Willoughby’s psych-exam point is the one that sticks to Bravo’s Sept. 3 sentence. A network that already screens people can still put a bosun on three seasons, sell him as a new father, and wait for a warrant before it says it has no plans to work with him in the future. Gary King was kept in his own season’s edit after alleged misconduct on the job. Gallagher is getting the same treatment with a criminal conviction attached, only the misconduct tape is a court file rather than a charter night.
Joe taking the bosun job next year is idle talk. Season 12 is not a public casting board. What is on the public board is simpler. New South Wales Police are still looking for Gallagher. Bravo’s Sept. 7 listing still has him on the boat, with Bradley walking up the deck to have the fight the synopsis already wrote down.
