Advertising pays for this site, so we sell it seriously and we publish the rules we sell it under. Enquiries go to support@wisatahits.blog with ADVERTISING in the subject line.
Who reads Wisata Hits
Our readers follow Indonesian news in English by choice. Office workers and analysts in Jakarta and Surabaya, readers in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur who deal with Indonesia commercially, students and researchers, and Indonesians working abroad who open the site at the wrong end of the day. Mobile first, overwhelmingly Android, and impatient with slow pages, which is why our ad slots are limited in number rather than stacked.
The verticals we publish are the ones advertisers usually want to sit beside: business and economy, technology, auto, travel, lifestyle, sport, entertainment, gaming, science and general news. We would rather place you well in a section that suits you than sell a run-of-site impression nobody looks at. We do not quote audience figures here, because numbers without a verified source are worth nothing to you. Ask, and we will send what our ad server reports.
What we sell
Display placements in the article body and around it, sold directly or filled by the programmatic exchanges that take our remaining inventory. Newsletter sponsorship, which is one sponsor per send with clear labelling, not a block of links. And sponsored articles, written and marked as commercial work.
We do not sell pop-unders, interstitials that hijack a tap, auto-playing video with sound, or the content-recommendation widgets whose fake headlines fund a lot of publishers in this region. Those units pay better than what we run. They also make a news site feel like a trap, and readers who feel trapped do not come back.
Sponsored content, and how we label it
Commercial articles carry a label at the top of the page and in the feed, sit in their own template so they cannot be mistaken for reporting, and name the sponsor. The label does not move to the bottom, shrink, or turn into the word “partner” and hope for the best.
Newsroom staff who cover a beat as news do not write sponsored pieces about that beat. Sponsored content is not filed as news, does not run under a reporter’s byline, and is not promoted as though it were a story we chose to do. You get to say what you want about your own product. You do not get our voice.
What we turn down
Some of this is a legal problem and some is simply a decision we made. The answer has not changed for anyone yet.
- Online gambling and slot sites, in any wrapper, including the ones that arrive as “entertainment app” media buys
- Unlicensed lending apps, debt-collection services, and any credit product that hides its effective interest rate
- Investment offers promising fixed or guaranteed returns, and multi-level recruitment schemes
- Health products making treatment or cure claims, and supplements without proper registration
- Political advertising that does not name who paid for it, and paid influencer campaigns run for candidates or parties
- Any deal contingent on us amending, delaying or unpublishing an existing story
Creative is reviewed before it goes live, and we reject ads that imitate our own headlines or interface. If something slips past us, tell us at the address above and we will pull it.
What buying an ad does not buy
No preview of unpublished stories. No veto. No warning that we are working on something about you. No introduction to a reporter arranged by the commercial side. Nobody selling advertising has access to the editing queue, and no story is held, softened or dropped because of a booking. Cancelling a campaign after coverage you dislike is your right, and it will not buy anything either.
When we write about a company that advertises with us, we disclose the relationship in the story. That disclosure is the only thing your money changes. Our editorial standards describe how the firewall works in practice, and our ownership and funding page shows what advertising actually pays for.
Programmatic inventory, data and privacy
Direct-sold campaigns are trafficked by us. Anything unsold goes to programmatic exchanges, which means we do not personally approve every impression. We keep category blocks against the sectors listed above and check what actually appeared rather than trusting a filter.
Ad partners must handle reader data lawfully and honour the choices readers make in our consent notice. Our cookie policy lists the categories of cookies involved and how to refuse them, and our privacy policy covers what we hold. We do not sell reader lists, and newsletter subscribers are never handed to a sponsor.
Rates, booking and reporting
Write to us with your dates, the sections you want, a budget range and the market you are trying to reach. We will reply with what is available and what it costs. Direct campaigns need about a week of lead time, and sponsored articles need longer because the copy goes through a compliance read.
During a campaign you get impressions, clicks and viewability as our ad server records them, with a report at the end of the flight. We do not pass on personal data about individual readers, and we will not invent a lift figure we cannot measure. Commercial mail is usually answered within two or three working days.
